Watch Out If Your City Is Listed In the Newly Released Smart Cities Listing

We all are aware of the government initiative to make our cities smart through Smart Cities Mission. It is an effort for urban development and retrofitting program led by the Indian Government. The mission has an agenda to develop 100 cities that can be sustainable and citizen-friendly. The Minister of Urban Development is the whole and sole of this initiative.

In the recent upgradation, 30 new cities are added for the development. After the announcement, the count now goes to 90 of the cities that will be partly funded by the central government.

While announcing the refreshed list of newly added smart cities, M Venkaiah Naidu, Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu stated that total 45 cities participated for available smart city slots but only 30 managed to get the entry in the scheme ensuring their plans and feasibility. The total amount of Rs 57,393 Crore has been proposed under the scheme of Smart City.

  • Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh)
  • Shimla
  • Jhansi
  • Allahabad
  • Dahod in Gujarat

  • Karnal in Haryana

  • Srinagar
  • Jammu

Government of India offers Rs 500 Crore to every city that makes its place into Smart City Mission for the period of 5 Year for the implementation of various projects.

There was a plan to shortlist 100 cities for the mission for the rest of the 10 spots for which 20 cities are shortlisted. Below are the city names that will compete.
